The Tempest (c 1610-1611) is one of the late romances written by William Shakespeare.A shipwreck, magic, an island on the Mediterranean, spirits and assasination plots are all elements of this play with a happy ending here love and reconciliation are possible. Prospero with his magic controls the destinies of Miranda, Ferdinand, Ariel, Caliban, Alfonso, Gonzalo, Sebastian, Trinculo, Stephano and Boatswain. Thus, Prospero could be read as an autocratic playwright whose plotting and stage directions lead to a happily resolved endind.
