Prospero with his magic controls the destinies of Miranda, Ferdinand, Ariel, Caliban, Alfonso, Gonzalo, Sebastian, Trinculo, Stephano and Boatswain. Thus, Prospero could be read as an autocratic playwright whose plotting and stage directions lead to a happily resolved endind.
